Since 2004 the NSW Council for Intellectual Disability (NSW CID) has had a policy that over 50% of our Board of Directors are to be people with intellectual disability. This policy decision is in line with our philosophy of rights, inclusion and participation for people with intellectual disability. The Board of Directors is elected annually by NSW CID members. Only individual members can nominate to the Board of Directors and directors are elected for three year terms. Directors and staff are committed to the philosophy, aims and policies of NSW CID. The Board meets on a quarterly basis to make policy decisions based on our strategic plan and the current issues affecting the lives of people with intellectual disability and their families and advocates.
