Community Participation Information Sessions 2008

In October 2008 NSW CID will be conducting  information sessions on the Community Participation (CP) program.

CP is a post school program for young people with disability who may not be able to work in the foreseeable future. Each year young people leaving school with disability are assessed to see whether or not they are eligible for CP, or another post school program.

Recently 2008 school leavers were assessed, and those eligible to enter CP in 2009 were informed.

Understanding the assessment process, the CP program, the role that the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (DADHC) play and the role of Service Providers can be very confusing. We believe that it is very important that young people and their families and carers fully understand the program and their rights and have an opportunity to ask questions from an independent organisation.

NSW CID will be conducting 3 face to face information sessions for 2009 CP entrants, their families and carers and anyone else interested in this program, where we will discuss:

• What the CP program is and what it should aim to provide
• What expectations participants and their families should have
• What rights participants and their families have
• Any issues or questions young people and their families and carers may have

Please come along to our sessions and join in our discussion.

If you cannot attend our sessions face to face  please call our information hotline anytime on 9211 1611 or 1800 424 065
