Participation

Participation is a very important word for NSW CID.

What is participation?

Participation has 2 main meanings for NSW CID.

These 2 meanings are:

  1. The meaningful involvement of people with intellectual disability in all parts of our organisation and
  2. The meaningful involvement of people with intellectual disability in the community.

Why is participation important for NSW CID?

NSW CID believes that people with intellectual disability are the experts about their own lives.

We believe that people with intellectual disability have the same rights and responsibilities as other members of the community.

This is the basis of all our work.

Is this just a nice idea?

It is more than an idea for NSW CID!

Everything we do aims to support and encourage people to have their say and be heard.

NSW CID supports people with intellectual disability to be leaders.

NSW CID believes people with intellectual disability have the same right to participate equally in their communities.

NSW CID speaks up about participation.
