Are people with intellectual disability on NSW CID’s Board?

Yes!

Our constitution says that more than half of our Board of Directors must be people with intellectual disability.

How does this work?

We are still learning!!!

Here are 5 tips!

1. We employ participation workers.

This is a very important job.

The participation workers support people with intellectual disability in meetings and in presentations.

2. We write our information in easy English.

This information includes:

• position papers
• financial reports
• annual report
• meeting agendas
• fact sheets, and
• website

3. We treat each other with respect.

4. We give people the time they need to ask questions, to learn and have their say!

5. We are open to suggestions!!!

We ask people with intellectual disability what we can do to improve!!!
