Healthier Lives in the Hunter Forum - 9th March 2011

NSW CID is holding a forum on strategies for improving the health of people with intellectual disability in Newcastle & Hunter Regions.

Date: Wednesday 9th March 2011

Time: 9am – 3pm

Venue: Newcastle City Hall

Speakers include:

· Dr Bob Davis, Director, Centre for Developmental Disability Health, Victoria

· Robert Strike, Vice Chair Person, NSW CID

· Dr Bruce Chennoweth, Psychiatrist

· Louise Hedges, Clinical Nurse Consultant, ADHC Hunter Region

· Jim Simpson, Senior Health Advocate, NSW CID

The day is for:

*family members and carers *people with intellectual disability *service providers

Sessions will include:

· Tips for visiting the Dr

· Challenges to health care

· Mental and Intellectual Disability

· Question & Answer Panel

Easy to understand sessions for people with intellectual disability

(limited places to ensure accessibility)

Cost:

Includes information, morning tea & lunch.

Free for people with intellectual disability

$15 for carers, family members and students

$50 (incl GST) for service providers and professionals
